Vintage Baby
In December 2015 we became parents for the first time and we welcomed baby Lucy into the world.
It has been such an amazing time watching her grow and change each day and I have had a lovely time decorating her nursery and buying some beautiful outfits for her to wear. It has also enabled me to start this blog while on maternity leave.
On this blog page I hope to provide some ideas and inspiration for vintage style nurseries, beautiful vintage baby outfits, baby accessories, nursery storage, childrens parties and crafts.
I hope you enjoy reading and browsing the photos.
Hello Baby
Having a baby is such an exciting time and one of the first things I wanted to do is decorate Lucy's nursery.
As I knew that I was having a girl, I wanted to incorporate a hint of pink without going overboard. I started by browsing Pinterest and collected an array of photo ideas to get a clear picture of what style I wanted to create.
One of my favourite designs was a fairly minimal nursery using just pale pink and white. A feature wall was created by stenciling large pale pink stars onto one wall, with the other walls painted an off white. My husband made a stencil using cardboard and we carefully stenciled stars in a random pattern onto the wall. After the paint was dry, we dabbed some glitter paint onto a few of the stars which looks really effective when the sunlight catches them.
Lucy's room is very small and with the changing unit and cot taking up nearly all the space we didn't have room for a wardrobe, so we had to improvise. We brought a cheap white shelving unit from B&Q and added a metal rail underneath to hang some of Lucy's clothes on. This has worked really well and has created another space for clothes.
We have also added our own vintage prints on the wall, bunting decorations, paper garlands, pretty lace effect lampshade, photo frames and modern vintage toys.
